Please arrive no later than 12:00 p.m.

Transportation: The Delegation will be providing transportation to Woodland Bowl. The bus will be leaving Big Lots parking lot in Aurora at 8:00 am. We will arrive in Batesville at the shopping center next to McDonald’s at approximately 8:45 am. Please let Greg know which “pick-up” point you will be catching the bus. PLEASE ARRIVE AT THE BUS PICK UP AT LEAST 15 MINUTES EARLY. WE ARE ON A TIGHT SCHEDULE AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO WAIT FOR ANYONE PAST THE ABOVE PICK UP TIMES. Thank you to the Rising Sun School Corporation for providing a bus for our use. Only athletes, coaches, and Class A volunteers (CVO) are permitted to ride the bus due to liability.

Registration Cost: The registration cost of $13 has been paid for each athlete by the Delegation. Please remember that if you should not attend the tournament, you will be required to reimburse the Delegation prior to participating in any other sport or activity.

 Dress Code (Must be followed!! Only exception is a sensory issue, which needs to be brought the Program Coordinator’s attention at least 1 week prior to tournament):

  • Bowlers will dress in a manner which will bring credit to them, SO and the sport of bowling.
  • Bowlers must wear bowling shoes, long khaki pants/dress pants, and a shirt with a collar that identifies the SO program. A shirt will be provided to the athlete on the day of tournament; must be returned immediately following tournament.
  • Prohibited apparel includes: shorts of any-kind, sweat pants, cutoffs, tank tops, sleeveless t-shirts or anything (including hats) with advertisements or inappropriate subject manner.
  • The Bowling Sports Management Team or sport official shall have the authority to bar offenders from competition until they comply with the rule.

Medications: If your athlete needs assistance with his/her medications please send them in containers marked with athlete’s name, prescription name, dose and time; along with a schedule of these medications indicating the dosage and time of administration and a notation of why medication is being taken (Please complete the attached Medication Administration Record/MAR). Medications and MAR are to be given to Greg before boarding the bus. Athletes who take responsibility for self-medication while at home may continue to do so, but medications need to be packaged as described above. PLEASE ONLY SEND MEDICATIONS NEEDED FOR THE DAY. DO NOT SEND EXTRA OR BEDTIME MEDS!

Meals: We will NOT be stopping on the way to or on the way back to eat. There is to be no eating or drinking on the bus. Food and drinks can be purchased at Woodland Bowl. Please bring at least $10.00 to purchase lunch and drinks at the snack bar. No food or drinks are allowed to be carried into the bowling center.

Pets: NO pets are allowed to be brought into Woodland Bowl.

Coach/CVO Responsibilities: During the bowling tournament coaches/chaperones are responsible for the supervision, transporting, care, and getting athletes to their appropriate events at ALL times. Parents please do NOT take your athlete somewhere without first informing a coach/chaperone. Any questions or concerns, please contact Greg Townsend. All coaches/chaperones are Class A Certified Volunteers (CVO) through Special Olympics.

No Smoking/No Alcohol Policy: The use of tobacco products at all Special Olylmpics’ venues is prohibited. Any coach/chaperone or athlete who breaks this rule may be suspended from Special Olympics participation for one year. Woodland Bowl will be a smoke/tobacco free facility (if not already) for the day. Please be aware that you must be at least 8 feet away from any entrance of the building in order to smoke outside.

Ramps: Coaches please remember to bring ramps to the tournament.

 Medical Emergency: Dial 911. The H.O.D., Greg Townsend, is to be notified of all injuries/medical emergencies (812) 584-6861.

Code of Conduct: Athletes, Unified Partners, and Coaches/Chaperones must follow the Special Olympics Code of Conduct, including refraining for the use of un-prescribed drugs and alcohol, no gambling during any scheduled Special Olympics event, and adherence to established facility rules and regulations. See attached Code of Conducts.

Arriving Home: Approximately – Batesville: 5:45PM Aurora: 6:30 PM

 Food Drive: Area 9 is having a food drive competition amongst county programs. Each athlete is encouraged to bring canned/dry goods to the tournament. A box with “Ripley Ohio Dearborn” will be at the bowling center for athletes to place their goods upon arrival. The program bringing the most canned/dry goods wins 10 paid registrations to the state bowling tournament. This year all the goods collect will be donated to a food pantry in our area.

  2. Merge onto I-465 N
  3. Take the Keystone Ave exit, Exit 33
  4. Keep right at the fork to go on N Keystone Ave.
  5. Take the first right onto E 96th Street
  6. Woodland Bowl, 3421 E 96th, Indianapolis, IN 46240 is on the right.
