Discovery Camp is designed to introduce Special Olympics athletes to new sports, skills, a talent show, and a variety of leisure activities. In addition to discovering new sports and the talent show, the athletes have opportunities to be creative with arts and crafts, enjoy an outdoor movie, and listen to campfire stories while making s’mores. For many athletes,  Discovery Camp will provide a chance to take part in new sports and activities and to establish new friendships.

YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT BY THE DEADLINE. YOU CAN NOT JUST SHOW UP ON THE DAY OF CAMP.

CAMPER MUST BE ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF ALL HIS/HER PERSON CARE NEEDS; SUCH AS SHOWERING, DRESSING, EATING, ETC. A NURSE WILL BE ONSITE TO ADMINISTER MEDICATIONS AND TEND TO ANY FIRST AID NEEDS.

Packing List
Sleeping bag and pillow (MUST HAVE)
Old gym shoes
Toiletries – soap, shampoo, toothpaste, tooth brush, deodorant
Bath towels and wash clothes
Flip flops for the shower
Large plastic bag for dirty laundry
Jacket/coat

Clothing for all kinds of weather – we will be spending majority of our time outdoors

Sleeping Arrangements:
There are 11 sleeping cabins located in Camp Woodsmoke. All the cabins have electric and are heated.  The windows offer a nice cross breeze in the summer time. All the cabins are linked to the rest of the camp by concrete walkways and are handicap accessible. The cabins all sleep 6 to 8 campers.

Located on 264 acres of woods and rolling hills near Greensburg, Indiana,  Camp Woodsmoke offers an opportunity to come and relax in the beauty of nature. Camp Woodsmoke offers a special opportunity to campers with special needs. Camp Woodsmoke is an on going project of the Lions of Indiana District 25-F. It is funded entirely by donations from Lions clubs, individuals, and benevolent organizations. Most of Camp Woodsmoke is handicapped accessible, there are sidewalks linking the cabins, chapel, mess hall, amphitheater, playground, main shelter house and handicapped trail.
