Change in Men’s 2016 Basketball Tournament Date
Due to a scheduling error, the 2016 Men’s State Basketball Tournament was accidentally scheduled for Easter weekend. When the 2015-2016 Program Information Guide was printed in early 2015, this conflict was not caught prior to the 2016 Basketball Dates being published. Once brought to our attention, the State Office met with select Area Directors and County Coordinators at October’s Leadership Retreat. They determined that the best course of action is to move the Men’s Tournament to the first weekend in April (April 2 & 3). The Women’s and Youth Tournaments, along with Men’s Sectionals will stay the same! There were discussions on whether or not to move the Youth Tournament which is the Saturday before Easter. After speaking with our host (University of Indianapolis), volunteer groups, and other involved parties, it was determined that the best course of action is to keep the Youth Tournament on its current date. Here are the finalized dates for the 2016 State Basketball Tournament:
- March 12-13: Women’s Tournament (DePauw University)
- March 19: Men’s Sectionals (various local sites)
- March 26: Youth Tournament (University of Indianapolis)
- April 2-3: Men’s Tournament (*new date*) (Indiana State University)
