Meet and Greet Dinner/Silent Auction
Special Olympics Indiana – Ripley Ohio Dearborn Counties (SOIN-ROD) will be hosting a “meet and greet” dinner/silent auction to raise the funds necessary to send Special Olympics athlete, Chris Perdue, of Osgood, to the 2017 World Winter Games in Austria.
Chris is set to compete in snowboarding during the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games; which are scheduled to take place March 14-25, 2017 in Graz, Schladming-Rohrmoos and Ramsau, Austria. The 18-year-old, South Ripley High School student has a history of success snowboarding on the state-level and will be traveling to Vermont in December to train with Team USA.
The benefit is scheduled for Saturday, November 5th at the Versailles Baptist Church, 228 South Washington Street, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Dinner, catered by The Rolling Pin, will be served at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are sold for $20 each and may be purchased by calling 812-584-6861 or by downloading an order form. Tickets will also available for purchase at any United Community Bank (UCB) location beginning Friday, October 28th.
The World Games are flagship events for the Special Olympics Movement. They take place every two years and alternate between Summer and Winter Games. The Games can be the world’s largest sporting event of the year. Thousands of athletes, coaches, volunteers and supporters attend to see and cheer the skills and accomplishments of people with intellectual disabilities. Chris is the first athlete from the local Special Olympics program to compete on an international level.
