The Erskine Championship Weekend celebrates the culmination of the fall golf and softball seasons while honoring the life and legacy of Carl Erskine, a Special Olympics Indiana spokesperson and volunteer, and his son, Jimmy Erskine, who exemplified a life of integrity and excellence, just like his father.
Carl pitched 12 seasons for the Dodgers, helping the franchise win the 1955 World Series. His son, Jimmy, was born with Down syndrome in 1960 and became a Special Olympics athlete in 1970. Jimmy played softball and Unified golf, among other sports.
With Carl’s passing in 2024, Special Olympics Indiana dedicated this weekend to their legacies, marking their impact on two sports so close to their lives.
