Discovery Camp is designed to introduce Special Olympics athletes to new sports, skills and a variety of leisure activities. In addition to discovering horseshoes, sand volleyball, and bocce and the challenging obstacle course, the athletes have opportunities to be creative with arts and crafts, enjoy a movie, and listen to campfire stories while making smores. For many athletes, Discovery Camp will provide a chance to take part in new sports and activities and to establish new friendships – although the Wiener Dog Race tends to bring out the competitive spirit of all the athletes.
